Naturally, your Automated Order gives your QA Lab the Highest Priority status available from API each and every ordering cycle. Furthermore, you have the added assurance of knowing that our Procurement Team is in contact with all the key manufacturers on a day-to-day basis, which allows us to track and ensure the availability of your Automated Orders well in advance.

Prior to shipping your Automated Order each month, your API Account Executive will contact you first to confirm the order.  Because it's automated...but it's NOT automatic. If usage in your lab is running in its projected pattern, your order will be shipped as scheduled.  However, with API Automated Orders you are also able to adjust your reserved monthly quantities up or down, based on your actual real-world needs.

An API Scientific Case History.

When one of our corporate customers was seeing media availability issues at a number of their labs across the country, they did the smart thing by calling API. You see, Automated Ordering through API goes beyond the traditional Standing Order. We give you greater flexibility along with a few extra features and enhancements that enable you to be more strategic about procuring your ongoing orders.  Especially items that you need to have on-time every month.

Media is obviously critical to the running of QA and QC labs. So the first thing we did in this particular case was to try and pinpoint and quantify their specific media availability issues. 

API prepared a customized two-page questionnaire that was sent to 30 of their labs throughout the USA.  The straightforward questions we asked related to how long it took them to get their media, which specific items were a problem, and how much they used on a monthly basis. 

By compiling all the questionnaires into one logical centralized report, we were able to help our client statistically determine that this was more of a far reaching problem than they had even realized. Most of their labs were experiencing at least two-to-three week lead times to receive certain types of media from their primary vendor. Which meant they were forced to order media a full month in advance to ensure that they had sufficient quantities on hand when they needed it there in their lab for testing.

Then by also analyzing their usage patterns, we were able to formulate a plan of action. With some real quantities from
30 labs to tell us how much each facility used monthly, we were able to accurately project overall total usage for the full year throughout their entire system of bottlers and canners.  Using this data, we approached one of the most respected manufacturers of media in the world...with real numbers and actual usage patterns in hand.

Working closely with this major multi-national media manufacturer, we were able to put together a coordinated Automated Ordering program that synchronized their
production with our customer’s needs. This virtually eliminated lead times, cutting the time it took to receive the media they ordered by 50% to 75%. 

Based on the potential overall volume, we were also able to at negotiate extremely attractive pricing for such high quality media. Far lower than list price. And because the quantities were consistently high on a monthly basis, we were able to offer the kind of flexibility you don’t always get with a traditional standing order. 

With our Automated Ordering program, your API Scientific Account Executive contacts you every month to confirm your Automated Order. If your usage is down, you can order less that month. Or if your usage is up, you can order more. You still get to approve and adjust those orders monthly, if needed.  So while your order is Automated, it’s not automatic. 

By combining quality, availability, flexibility and pricing, API solved this customers’ problem in less than two months!
